“I receive a press call from a legal magazine, for
a comment regarding whether the process review
will lead to ‘Have a go culture’.”

Read law at Nottingham Trent University. Henry trained with a London law firm, qualifying in 1995 and joining BLM in 2002. He was made partner in 2003. Henry was elected President of FOIL (Foil of Insurance Lawyers) in November 2007 and will focus on the public policy implications of claims culture, as well as FOIL’s usual law reform agenda.

8.00 am: I arrive in the office and check my diary to see what’s on for the rest of the day. As I have a Blackberry I usually skim through my e-mails on the way into work. Make myself a cup of tea. Deal with any urgent e-mails.

8.30 am: Review expert report and disclosure in relation to a claimant who received negligent hospital treatment after his accident.

9.30 am: Make another cup of tea. Open post and distribute it to my local authority team. Catch-up with the team and deal with any queries they may have.

10.15 am: I receive a press call from a legal magazine, for a comment regarding whether the process review will lead to ‘Have a go culture’. Continue to review the expert report.

11.30 am: Travel to London to attend a Civil Justice Council meeting. Receive a call from a client to discuss a proposed new line of fraud enquiries on the net. Start to prepare my talk for BLM’s Annual Claims Review conference. Arrive in London and grab a sandwich.

2.30 pm: Attend the Civil Council meeting to discuss issues relating to experts.

6.00 pm: Travel back to Birmingham to take a client to a rock concert.
