Position overview:

  • The objective of the role is to provide a user support function or HelpDesk facility to all members of BLM.
  • Provide support to BLM system users, principally by answering helpdesk calls and logging them in the HelpDesk system.
  • Track helpdesk calls through the system and assign calls to other members of IT.
  • Undertake general tasks, such as packing computer equipment and arranging delivery.
  • Undertake computer moves, installations, equipment changes and rollouts.
  • Assist in the setup of computer equipment for presentations.
  • Assist with general IT administration tasks when requested.

    The above is not intended as a comprehensive list of all aspects of the role and other duties may be required occasionally, where appropriate, and at the discretion of the National Head of IT.

    This position involves manual handling of equipment.

Experience:

  • This is an entry level position within the IT team where little or no prior IT experience is required.
  • Experience of a professional or legal services environment would be helpful but is not essential.
  • Training for the role will be provided.
  • BLM operates an XP/2003 Network with Office 2003 on the desktop. Microsoft Exchange/Outlook 2003 is utilized for electronic mail. BLM also have desktop Internet access, an Intranet, and in-house Case Management System.

Abilities:

  • Evidence of customer facing skills.
  • Relevant qualifications would be an advantage, but are not essential.
  • Experience or knowledge of any other IT applications or systems would be an advantage, but not essential.

  • Capacity to seek and take direction and guidance from peers and superiors.
  • Demonstrate a bright, personable approach and a willingness to deal with a wide range of people.
