Experience |
- Has acquired a wealth of police law experience having been involved in a number of reported and leading cases, including the Court of Appeal case of Cruickshank Limited v Chief Constable of Kent Police.
- In Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession (2007) Orla was ranked as a leading practitioner in police law nationally and described as the "driving force of the team" with a "solid working knowledge of the practicalities."
- Practice includes security services, acting on behalf of the leisure/retail industries. Has presented many seminars but most recently on the issue of vicarious liability following the CA judgments of Hawley v Luminar Leisure and Viasystems (Tyneside) Limited v Thermal Transfer (Northern) Limited.
- Joined BLM's professional indemnity department in 2000, becoming a partner in 2003.
- Read law at Liverpool University before qualifying in 1994. Practiced in the North West for six years, specialising in defending public and employers’ liability claims on behalf of police forces.
