- Specialises in serious traumatic injury cases including head and catastrophic injuries.
- Strong track record in defending stress claims for both private sector and local authority employers.
- Particular expertise in prosecuting disciplinary cases for police forces.
- Examples of his work include Pickering v Liverpool Daily Post and Echo and others (HoL, 1991), Griffin, Lawson and Williams v Clwyd Health Authority and others (CA, 2001) and Tyrer v Clwyd Health Authority (QBD, 2001).
- David has successfully defended a factory foreman in a Crown Court trial against a charge of gross negligence manslaughter and regularly deals with and advises clients on police and HSE investigations of fatal accidents and inquests.
- Senior partner of the Liverpool office. Qualified in 1981 and joined BLM in 1983.
- In the 2010 edition of Chambers, David was recognised as a strong catastrophic injury practitioner, with "excellent all-round knowledge and strong negotiating skills", and seen as particularly strong on employers' liability cases.
