Experience |
- All aspects of long and short tail occupational disease claims, including asbestos-related disease, occupational cancers, COSHH and work-related stress/bullying claims for insurers and corporate clients, as well as policy dispute and environmental pollution matters.
- Extensive experience in advising corporate clients faced with legacy occupational disease liability difficulties, and project work aimed at scoping potential cancer UK liabilities for UK clients.
- Advising insurers regarding strategic issues including emerging risks (such as developing nanotechnology) and response to government consultation exercises relating to proposed changes in the law.
- Multi-track employers' liability and public liability claims, particularly in the ports, pharmaceuticals and retail tyre/exhaust sectors.
- Qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 1996 and in England & Wales in 1998. Trained and subsequently worked with the insurance liability team at Dundas & Wilson CS in Edinburgh until joining Halliwells in Manchester in 2000. Became partner at Halliwells in 2004 and head of disease litigation in 2008 before joining BLM as a partner in March 2010.
