- Barbara is a partner in the occupational disease team, with a particular interest in asbestos-related or respiratory claims.
- She also undertakes product liability work, with a particular interest in complex causation issues.
- Barbara also has an interest in employment issues and assists the employment team.
- She regularly monitors relevant international litigation and group claims for local clients.
- Barbara works for both insurers and their policyholders, and also for uninsured defendants.
- She has also handled several catastrophic personal injury claims with associated criminal prosecutions.
- Before joining BLM, Barbara worked for the London office of a New York law firm working for a major FTSE client on international product liability litigation.
- She has extensive experience of working on issues of causation involving detailed epidemiological evidence.
- Barbara regularly writes articles for the legal press, Emblem, Disclosure, and relevant trade publications.
- She recently co-authored a proposal to the Civil Justice Committee of the Law Society that there be a dedicated pre-action protocol in mesothelioma claims.
- Barbara regularly presents at seminars and workshops for clients on disease and other issues.
