Safety Health & Environment

BLM regularly defends companies, individual directors and public sector bodies being investigated, questioned or prosecuted for corporate manslaughter, breaches of Health & Safety and regulatory offences. We respond to actions or threats from local authorities, the Environment Agency, the Health & Safety Executive and government agencies.

The team deals with criminal and regulatory compliance issues including:

• preventative action
• attending the aftermath of an incident
• assisting in the investigation
• establishing the likelihood of individual prosecution
• representing clients at interviews under caution.

In the event of a prosecution, we offer thorough preparation and handle the case to the final court hearing. Although cases do go to trial, our approach is to become involved at a very early stage to avoid prosecutions and, when this is impossible, ensure the financial and other repercussions are minimised.
