London Market

BLM is a national firm with a local presence. We are at the heart of the Lloyds of London Market, working closely alongside its leading players.

Whilst the London Market is home to over 50 managing agents and 80 syndicates, we understand that our clients write business all over the UK, and internationally. Our team, with its capability to advise on international matters, is able to draw on the strength of our global network of litigation specialists and firms all over the world.

The London Market is just one of the key markets in which we operate; it is a distinct and specialist part of the UK insurance industry and presents significant potential for growth.  However, the economic outlook is far from certain and writing for profit, ensuring excellence in underwriting and maximising return on investment are crucial considerations for your business. That is where we come in.

Our national team of practitioners work alongside many leading insurers operating within the London Market across a broad spectrum of insurance and reinsurance matters. The firm has a prominent role in working with insurers and policy makers in helping to shape the legal landscape and its multi-disciplinary team provides guidance and advice in areas such as professional liability, construction, product liability, property damage and recovery, occupational disease, personal injury, health and safety, environmental liabilities, and medical malpractice. With additional support from BLM's policy development unit, the firm works with Lloyd's members as it seeks to become the 'market of choice for insurance and reinsurance buyers and sellers to access and trade specialist property and casualty risks'.
