BLM triumphs in Borneo leadership challenge
15 Jul 2010
For the third year running, Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP has raised the most money in The Prince's Trust's Insurance Leadership Group challenge with a total of more than £35,000.
Over the past year, the BLM team - aptly named the BLM Borneo Wildcats - has worked hard to prepare physically for a gruelling ten-day journey through the heart of Borneo, which the team completed at the end of May. The firm also hosted it's National Charity Quiz in March and thanks to support from BLM staff, contacts, clients and sponsors, the Wildcats managed to raise more than £25,000 at this event alone.
In heat that exceeded 40 degrees, the Wildcats competed against six other challenge teams, to hike, bike and kayak through some of the most diverse terrain in the world. Together, the teams raised a record-breaking £160,000, which will be used by The Prince's Trust to help hundreds of disadvantaged young people to gain the skills and confidence to find employment.
Terry Renouf, BLM National Senior Partner said, "The BLM Borneo Wildcats worked extremely hard to prepare themselves for the Insurance Leadership Group Challenge and staff in each of our offices have shown tremendous backing for the Wildcats both in supporting their fundraising and throughout their journey. We are thrilled to have raised the most money for the third year running and encouraged that even though we are living through a difficult economic climate we have been able to join forces with other companies in the insurance sector to continue to help make a difference to so many lives.
“We would particularly like to thank all of those who donated or otherwise contributed to the BLM National Charity Quiz Night, which helped us to raise a huge chunk of our overall total. Our staff, clients and contacts have been very moved by the work of The Prince’s Trust and the Young Ambassadors who spoke at our events are an inspiration.”
