BLM appoints new occupational disease partner in Manchester
08 Mar 2010
National law firm Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP (BLM) has appointed occupational disease partner Chris Fletcher to its current team in Manchester.
Chris joins the firm on 8 March from Halliwells, where he was head of disease litigation. He has particular expertise in advising on both long and short tail disease litigation claims, with an emphasis on asbestos-related disease, occupational cancers and work-related stress. His experience includes acting for insurers in relation to disease liability difficulties, general employers’ liability and public liability cases, as well as responding to government consultations on developments in the law.
Vivienne Williams, head of the occupational disease group in Manchester, said: “Chris will be a valuable addition to the firm’s established national occupational disease unit, which continues to grow and adapt to the increasing number of legal developments in this arena. We are confident that Chris’ experience in advising on disease claims will enhance the firm’s current offering.”
Chris’ appointment to the Manchester office follows the recent appointments of healthcare partners Aidan Carr and Clare Chapman. Aidan joined the firm on 1 March from Rowlands Solicitors LLP where he was senior partner and head of regulatory and criminal litigation and Clare joined the firm in January from RadcliffesLeBrasseur.
BLM has established a leading presence in the occupational disease arena and has been recognised by leading legal directories, Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. The national team acts on a wide range of cases relating to asbestos related diseases, Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, noise induced hearing loss, stress and work related upper limb disorders.
