BLM follows progress of Corporate Manslaughter Guidelines
10 Feb 2010
The Sentencing Guidelines Council has published the eagerly awaited Corporate Manslaughter & Health and Safety Offences Causing Death guidelines.
Safety, health and environment (SHE) lawyers at Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP have been monitoring the consultation ahead of the publication of the guidelines, which apply to sentencing of organisations on or after 15 February 2010.
The guidelines set out the key issues involved in assessing the seriousness of offences, as well as the enforcement of financial penalties and additional powers available to courts in imposing sentences. Please click here for more information.
BLM SHE partner Henry Kirkup has offered his views and guidance on the content of the guidelines and has been quoted in the legal section of The Times and Safety & Health Practitioner magazine commenting on the impact implementation of the guidelines will have on companies.
If you would like to find out more about the guidelines or how they could affect you, please contact a member of the SHE group at BLM.
