MoJ reform – are you ready for the new rules?
BLM offers client training on impact of new streamline claims process
Berrymans Lace Mawer’s national motor team has been closely following the proposed Ministry of Justice (MoJ) reforms for RTA personal injury claims up to £10,000.
Ahead of the planned implementation expected on 30 April this year, the motor team is offering bespoke training and updates on the impact the reforms, as well as advice on how best to operate efficiently in the new environment.
To arrange a visit from a partner within the BLM national motor team, please contact one of the following motor specialists:
The new process will complete a widely-known programme of reform launched by the MoJ in 2007. Key elements of the reform have been known for quite some time, including the fact that claims information will be shared electronically, that liability decisions should be made within 15 days as opposed to 90 under the present protocol, and that legal costs will be fixed and recoverable on a staged basis.
The new claims process should – if implemented effectively and operated efficiently by stakeholders – streamline the handling of these claims and see an end to marginal liability arguments and to counter productive ‘haggling’ on quantum or contributory negligence.
For more information, please click here to access the firm’s recent client e-bulletin on the reform.
BLM will also be preparing further articles and updates on the process when the detailed rules are published in the near future which you will be able to access from the BLM motor team page.
