BLM Appoints Six New Partners

Berrymans Lace Mawer has promoted six new partners (1 April 2008) bringing the total number to 121.
Berrymans Lace Mawer’s National Senior Partner, Terry Renouf, said:
“I warmly congratulate these six outstanding individuals on their achievement. Their appointments reflect a growth in our business, the need to maintain client service, succession planning and is the result of not only their hard work and commitment, but also the firm’s investment in its people.”
The new partners are:
Stuart Furniss, Personal injury – Liverpool
Stuart qualified as a solicitor in 2000 before joining BLM in 2002. He was promoted to associate in 2004. Stuart specialises in defending all types of claims against public authorities, police forces, insurers and major insureds. He has substantial experience of defending employers' liability and motor claims. Stuart’s expertise includes fraud and multi track claims of significant value. He also handles motor prosecutions and recovery claims.
Paul Lever, Personal injury – Manchester
Paul qualified as a solicitor in August 2000 and joined BLM the same year. He specialises in defending employers’ liability and public liability claims for leading insurers. His expertise includes accident related and short tail disease claims.
Cathy Mortimer, Personal injury – Manchester
Cathy joined BLM in 1996 as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the personal injury department. She has dealt with all aspects of civil litigation including RTA and EL/PL personal injury claims at both fast track and multi track level. Cathy supervises the fast track motor team in Manchester, which deals with all small claims and fast track motor matters including pre-litigated and litigated files, prosecutions and Part 8 matters on behalf of many major clients.
David Spencer, Personal injury – Manchester
David qualified in 1998 and joined BLM as a solicitor from Davies Arnold Cooper in July 2005. He became an associate in April 2006. David specialises in catastrophic and fatal injury cases arising from RTA, employer and public liability claims.
Paula Whittell, Personal injury – Manchester
Paula qualified as a solicitor in 1981 and joined BLM in 2006. Her work relates to individual claims and group actions involving complex personal injury, clinical negligence and environmental negligence.
Ros Danson, Personal injury – Stockton-on-Tees
Ros was admitted in 1999. She initially undertook claimant work and then moved into insurance litigation when she joined Jacksons Insurance Law. Ros joined BLM in 2003 and was promoted to associate in 2007. Ros has extensive experience in handling high volume motor work and currently manages the delegated fast track motor unit in Stockton-on-Tees.
