Fraud Expert Joins Police Intelligence Legal Panel

24 Nov 2011

BLM Birmingham associate Ben FitzHugh has been asked by the City of London Police to sit on a panel for the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, which is going live in January 2012. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) has been created to help police catch criminals and make the UK a more fraud resistant society.

Ben will join the Tactical Group for Legal and Investigation Service Providers, who will meet on a regular basis to discuss current intelligence and propose targets for the police to investigate.

The NFIB have set out their priorities for the operation which include:

  1. Organised Motor Insurance Claims Fraud
  2. Opportunistic Insurance Fraud
  3. Commercial Liability Fraud
  4. Ghost Brokering
  5. Professional Enablers
  6. Internal Fraud (insurance fraud)
  7. Data Theft (resulting in, or likely to result in, insurance fraud)

The strategic priorities are such that they will require further input from several teams at BLM in the future.

You can find out more about the NFIB by visiting the website nfib.police.uk
