BLM employment team wins Tribunal Claim for Westminster CC

Berrymans Lace Mawer partner Andrew McDonald led an employment team instructed by longstanding client Westminster City Council to defend a claim brought against it for unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.

The claimant, who was dismissed as part of a council-wide redundancy exercise, alleged that the dismissal was in fact the result of victimisation as she had previously brought three other claims against the council and was also on grounds of her disability. She further alleged a failure to make reasonable adjustments in respect of lighting during the course of her employment. The client's planning director and director of human resources were among the senior management team who gave evidence at the tribunal. After six days the Tribunal found unanimously in the client's favour.

Partners Andrew McDonald and Vanessa Latham and solicitor Sarah Wood were among those from the team who worked on the case, which follows three straight Employment Tribunal wins for the client.
