BLM experts to explore costs for motoring sector

Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP national senior partner Terry Renouf and partner Val Jones will be taking part in this month's eagerly anticipated Motor Conference hosted by the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

Val joins an panel of insurance and medical representatives to debate the cost of whiplash claims for the industry and look at the issues facing the judiciary and the latest medical evidence.

Terry will join representatives from the Motor Accident Solicitors Society and Zurich UK to lead a panel session to address how to control costs for the industry and its customers. The panel will cover underwriting profitability, Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill, uninsured driving and other factors driving up insurers' costs.

BLM is the headline sponsor of the event, which will take place at the Grange City Hotel in London on 22 November. It will be hosted by Otto Thoresen, director general of the ABI, and will be attended by high profile representatives from the motor and insurance industries including RBS, Stirling, Zurich, Provident, NFUM, MIB, LV, Chaucer, AXA, Allianz, Ageas, amongst others.

Topical sessions throughout the conference, which will be opened by BBC Broadcaster Susanna Reid, will also cover 'How can insurers tackle fraud?' 'What does the future of risk pricing look like? 'The future of the vehicle technology: What are the challenges facing the industry?'
