As the latest Home Secretary sets out budget cuts for the police service, this seminar considers how to reduce the cost of claims against police forces.
BLM’s police team will provide a practical update on tactics, recent developments and the latest claimant strategies, together with expert views on new areas of litigation which are increasing damages and costs. We will consider how police legal teams can drive down the cost of claims whilst helping to protect reputation. We also look at ways to assist senior officers develop strategy for major incidents and health and safety.
We close by scanning the horizon for potential problems which will affect your claims budgets, including a pragmatic review of Lord Jackson's proposals on costs and how this may impact legal expenditure.
The workshop contains two practical case study discussions, allowing delegates to debate the key issues and share best practice. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion involving what we hope will be a lively and contributory audience.
There is no charge to attend this event. However, to encourage discussion we will be limiting places to a maximum of 25 delegates.
