Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP invites you to Claims Review 2010 – your opportunity to hear experts in the field of personal injury and insurance claims highlight technical issues and developments over the last year and anticipate the challenges ahead.
New to this year’s programme are three ‘focus’ sessions, which will put the spotlight on the issues surrounding motor fraud, product law and health and safety. Our speakers will cover the latest developments and offer practical solutions.
Fraud remains a major challenge for those involved with the investigation and payment of personal injury claims. With its increasing presence and impact across the insurance industry, many of the topics in the conference programme will include advice and guidance on handling fraudulent claims.
We begin our programme with the ‘big picture’. BLM’s head of policy development and guest speakers from a leading insurer will bring you up to date on the reform agenda and its impact on the claims arena. Topics under consideration include the MoJ’s revised claims process, costs post-Jackson and the causes of claims inflation.
To help combat the continuing rise in the cost of claims, our costs presentation has been designed to bring you up to date with the technical issues, recent developments and tactics necessary for a robust challenge to claimants’ legal costs.
Our motor talk looks at the implications of recent case law and high profile credit hire cases. We continue with a review of public liability, focussing on practical guidance and risk management following lessons learned from the unusually harsh winter of 2010.
Following lunch, we will be joined by a guest neurologist who will share his expertise of common neurological injuries and complaints and who will provide an insight into conditions, treatment, prognosis and causation.
Work Equipment Regulations, burden of proof and other employers’ liability (EL) scenarios will feature in our concluding talk, which will also examine recent contributory negligence developments in EL claims.
Speakers are drawn from our team of experienced BLM lawyers, specialists from the insurance industry and experts distinguished in their fields.
