Berrymans Lace Mawer’s third annual air travel and tourism seminar will provide a thorough and lively perspective into the most recent developments and issues affecting the air tourism industry; from the 2010-11 ash cloud crisis and claims for financial compensation, to the liability of tour operators under the Package Travel Regulations. Chaired by Ruth Graham, our speaker panel will offer practical advice and guidance relevant to the individual needs of the different business within the industry and their legal exposure to risk.
Morning session – tour operator liability We have devoted our morning session to an in-depth analysis of the legal landscape for tour operators and package holiday liabilities. We commence with a case study, focusing on the practicalities of handling a typical package holiday claim. Daniel Clarke and Sarah Crowther from 3 Hare Court will then provide an update on package holiday litigation and a summary of recent cases of note. We conclude with a look at the increasing liability of tour operators in relation to excursions.
Afternoon session – air travel The afternoon session has been designed to focus on the key issues within the aviation industry, and will commence with a look at the ongoing issues of adverse weather and the corresponding Denied Boarding Regulations. We then turn to claims within the airport environment, looking at issues such as accidents in the airport and claims for financial compensation under the EU regulations and Montréal Convention. Our discussions will also encompass liability issues arising in connection with the airline/ground handling relationship, airport operators duties and airside safety. Finally, the afternoon will conclude with an interactive session exploring issues arising during the ‘turnaround’.
Delegates are invited to attend either the morning or afternoon session as appropriate to your line of business. Alternatively, you are welcome to attend for the whole day.
